XXVII- Not Beyond the Mask

From earlier episodes, I thought the three of them assumed that they would be walking into a war zone, but Sage seems to think that they could have prevented it. Perhaps he is just shocked at the death or he feels a sense of helplessness in front of it all. It is intreting to compare their tactics to Jazira's because they are both using this pseudo-real war to make their move unnoticed. Heroes and villains are closer than they originally thought.

It is clear that Kaylee and Jazira want to capture Goldtouch, but it isn't clear why. Kend or List would be the next logical choice because they are the closest countries geographically. She interrogated the old pope about some Almoner artifacts. They must think they are worth extending their supply lines across the world to obtain.

Hurray! AJ is back. And 800+ years of not having a body hasn't kept her from knowing how to fight for Mother Earth. Blades rising out of the earth. It is like the time she impaled Valens in the Gallery just not as big.

Poor Ethan. He's the last guy that deserves to get shot. He's obviously running around wearing priestly robes. That's like firing upon the Red Cross.

I don't think it's the same. The red cross has never engaged in open hostilities with whole nations like the Church of Braten has done. But it has been made special mention a few times before of the significance of the blue robes so maybe that carries a similiar international understanding like the red cross. I find it strange because people from Wildbere are followers of Braten's church. I believe it was a misfire.

On an unrelated note, Val is a fucking psycho with any weapon. She could be a good villain if I wasn't so sure she is trying to earn redemption from her bloody past.

He also seems to have lost AJ.

The cast page says that Kaylee has a Masters in Psychology which at first struck me as weird, but now I see how it meshes very well with her personality. She has been incredibly adept at reading between the lines and predicting movements because she has an understanding of why people do things. She has been able to identify all of the feints and tactics used against her and take on the Dirges during the Third Maritime War. It's not all luck.

I knew it! Valerie is a realistic representation of the Ninja. Real ninjas wore normal clothes, used conventional and unconventional weapons, engaged in asymmetric warfare, and encouraged misinformation about their abilities. That sums up the Dirges from everything I've seen.
